Battleground (2014) was a WWE-produced professional wrestling pay-per-view event held on July 20, 2014, at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. This was the second installment in the Battleground series, which began in 2013. The event featured nine matches, including, for the first time, two pre-show matches. There were two headline bouts. In the first, Seth Rollins claimed victory over Dean Ambrose by forfeit. This occurred after Ambrose attacked Rollins backstage, prompting Triple H to order security to remove Ambrose from the venue. Rollins then entered the ring and requested the referee to declare him the winner by forfeit. Despite this, Ambrose returned, having eluded security by hiding in a car trunk, and launched another attack on Rollins. The second main event featured John Cena successfully defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a fatal four-way match against Roman Reigns, Kane, and Randy Orton.
