Two young men, one wealthy and the other from a middle-class background, both fall for the same woman and join the US Air Corps as fighter pilots, ultimately becoming celebrated flying aces during World War I. Although they are loyal best friends, their shared affection for the woman puts their friendship at risk. At the same time, a girl from their hometown, who has been infatuated with one of them since childhood, quietly longs for him.
