What happens when your passion for music isn’t reciprocated? This is the dilemma faced by Walt (Jim Tavaré), the proprietor of Essential Music, a small independent record shop nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Silver Lake. Walt is acutely aware that his days of punk-rock fame are slipping into the past, yet he can’t resist sharing tales of his heyday with his much younger staff. Among them is Lysette (Kate Dalton), who deals with a stream of customers who believe she’s their ideal Record Store Girl; Chris (Derek James Elstro), the frontman of Troubled Meats, a band on the brink of success, at least in Chris’ eyes; and Duane (Adam Weber), a well-intentioned music enthusiast who knows a bit too much about Rock Criticism for his own good. “WARMED-OVER KRAUTROCK” is a comedy that celebrates a love for all genres of music in every scene, appealing to those who have ever been consumed by curating playlists—and to those who have been driven mad by such enthusiasts.
