Edyta, a woman in her forties, finds herself in the throes of a personal crisis. She has abandoned her family, including her husband and son, as well as their home by the Baltic Sea. Now residing in a Warsaw hotel, she spends her days navigating the unfamiliar city. When her funds dwindle, she devises a scheme: placing a newspaper ad offering sex for money. However, Edyta never follows through, instead drugging her clients and using their homes as temporary shelters. Her encounter with an artist named Patryk introduces a stroke of fortune, challenging her previously detached demeanor. In this captivating character exploration, Tomasz Wasilewski employs a minimalist cinematic approach, allowing subtle looks and movements to convey more than dialogue. He captures the duality of a solitary woman’s vulnerability and resilience through meticulous visual composition.
