On Friday, May 8, 2020, we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the conclusion of World War II in Europe. “V-E Day – Forever in their Debt” explores the diverse experiences of those who witnessed the war’s end. The documentary includes a variety of interviews, from children recalling the street festivities to servicemen who enjoyed free drinks that day, and POWs who longed for a hot bath after years of imprisonment. The program is enriched with archival footage, including a color film of the London celebrations and other clips showing a disgruntled Montgomery accepting the surrender of German land forces in northern Germany on May 4.
