Plagued by the shadows of his past and wary of what lies ahead, fourteen-year-old Juhani finds himself at a secluded boys’ home called The Island. For the past six years, Juhani (played by Niilo Syvaoja) has been moved from one foster home to another, making the hope for a stable life seem like a distant memory. Upon arriving at this remote refuge for troubled boys, Juhani is unaware of the harshness that awaits him under the supervision of the stern superintendent, Olavi Harjula (portrayed by Tommi Korpela).
