The Summit
Watch Trailer
“The Summit,” a documentary film from 2012 directed by Nick Ryan, explores the tragic events of the 2008 K2 disaster. This film blends real documentary footage with dramatized reenactments to depict the catastrophe, where eleven climbers lost their lives in a brief period, marking one of the most devastating incidents in mountaineering history. Swedish mountaineer Fredrik Sträng, who initially intended to create his own documentary but had to abandon his climb before reaching the summit, captured much of the original footage. Despite not completing his project, Sträng’s recordings proved crucial in piecing together the differing accounts of what transpired during the disaster.
