In December 2016, a significant era in music history concluded with the retirement of the Finnish punk rock group Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät (PKN). “Punk Voyage” is a full-length documentary that chronicles the band’s final years, capturing both their triumphs and challenges. After achieving fame in Finland, this extraordinary foursome continued to win over fans globally. During their seven-year journey, PKN performed nearly 300 shows across 16 countries. In 2015, they were chosen to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest, performing for an audience of over 100 million TV viewers. Despite their success and extensive touring, the band faced considerable internal pressure: Kari grappled with the allure and responsibilities of fame; Sami ventured into politics and religion; a romantic rivalry between Toni and the band’s roadie, Niila, led to tensions; and Pertti, weary of it all, chose to step away.
