The Mortician, portrayed by Method Man, is a detached and unemotional figure who handles bodies with a cold indifference. He leads a life of solitude and detachment. His boss at the morgue, played by Edward Furlong, introduces him to a new worker, Noah (EJ Bonilla), a troubled young man fulfilling his parole requirements. Noah inadvertently brings trouble to the mortuary in the form of the infamous gangster Carver (Dash Mihok) and his gang. The Mortician’s interest is piqued by a tattoo of Botticelli’s ‘Birth of Venus’ on a murdered woman’s body (Judy Marte), which stirs up unsettling memories from his childhood. When he encounters a frightened child named Kane (Cruz Santiago) escaping the morgue, he is compelled to take action. The Mortician and Kane form an uneasy partnership, both seeking redemption as they flee. Through his clumsy acts of bravery, the Mortician reconnects with his buried past and uncovers the answers he has long sought, ultimately finding redemption and peace.
