This film, now lost, is regarded as one of Japan’s earliest entries into the Tokusatsu genre. The special effects were crafted by Fuminori Ohashi, who asserts that he served as a modeling consultant for the 1954 Godzilla film, although this is contested by modeler Eizo Kaimai and art team member Shinji Hiruma. According to a synopsis in the March 1938 edition of Kinema Junpo, the “Kong” depicted in this movie was not truly a giant creature.
