Newcomers to the area, Nat and Gabe, find themselves accepting a dinner invitation from the fiery Hungarian Helene and her uncouth husband, Sasha. Among the other attendees are Marty, a former member of Bananarama, Angie, who is involved in bullet manufacturing, and Danny, who is rumored to be suicidal. While the guests are generally pleasant, Nat and Gabe are taken aback by the hosts’ frequent and intense arguments. Gabe’s clumsy attempt to mediate only adds to the tension. Nat is surprised when Helene, whom she barely knows, confides in her about her suspicions of Sasha’s unfaithfulness. Meanwhile, Gabe’s effort to have a sincere conversation with Sasha is met with hostility. After Helene physically assaults Sasha, Nat and Gabe are eager to leave, but a shocking revelation from Danny leaves Gabe conflicted between doing the right thing and taking the easy way out.
