In the small town of Suddenly, a group of four hitmen, led by a man named Baron, disguise themselves as Secret Service agents to take over the home of Ellen, a war widow. Her house offers an ideal vantage point for their plot to assassinate the President during his visit. The impostors deceive the local police, except for Todd, a former war hero turned deputy and town drunk. Todd, who once served with Ellen’s late husband and harbors unrequited feelings for her, becomes suspicious of Baron during a visit to Ellen’s home. However, his warnings are dismissed due to his reputation. As Todd uncovers the assassination plot, he manages to eliminate one of Baron’s men but is subsequently captured. Now, he and Ellen must devise a plan to thwart Baron and his team before they can carry out their deadly mission.
