In recent times, over 2,500 books have been pulled from school districts across the United States, being classified as banned, restricted, or contested, thus denying access to countless students. Unsurprisingly, the subjects under fire are the typical targets of the American Right—LGBTQ+ topics, Black History, and women’s empowerment—hindering the ability of future generations to form their own perspectives on vital social matters. Through a poetic blend of scenes featuring young readers and writers, THE ABCs OF BOOK BANNING amplifies the voices of those affected and fosters optimism for the future through the deep reflections of curious young minds.
