Veteran standup comedian Sweeney, known as “The Character King,” is offered a chance to perform on a national cable program in Los Angeles. However, there’s a catch: Sweeney must eliminate the local references from his routine, particularly his popular portrayals of vibrant Boston “characters” that have been key to his success at home. Reluctantly, Sweeney decides to abandon these characters. To his surprise and horror, the characters manifest in reality and seek vengeance, attempting to end Sweeney’s life.
