Roger Mason finds himself incarcerated in a high-tech, futuristic prison. Driven by the desire to reunite with his daughter, he repeatedly tries to escape, but each attempt is thwarted just as he nears success. His punishments include being placed in suspended animation for extended periods, causing him to remain the same age while his daughter continues to grow up. With his sentence continually extended, he begins to lose hope of ever regaining his freedom.
