The historical fantasy movie centers on the story of a destitute scholar and a fox spirit on a quest for a magical elixir. Chen Linong portrays the naive Wang Zijin, a scholar journeying to Beijing who unexpectedly forms a quick friendship with Li Xian’s character, the fox demon Bai Shisan. Unaware of Bai Shisan’s true intentions, Wang Zijin is unwittingly drawn into the fox demon’s scheme to obtain the magic pill that grants immortality.
