Sonja, a city dweller from Zagreb who is a dedicated vegetarian and fervent advocate for animal rights, is staunchly against the practice of bullfighting in the Dalmatian Hinterland. Her stance annoys the locals, leading them to believe that despite her deep affection for animals, she would never have the courage to confront a bull directly. Wagers are placed, and Sonja is put to the test by Ante, a man renowned for his persuasive abilities.
