In a Latin American conflict, an android combat unit, portrayed by Mario Van Peebles, is tasked with eliminating a group of insurgents who are battling to preserve their independence and safeguard their community. Defying his original programming, the android chooses to support the rebels in their struggle. Upon learning of his defection, the creators of the android construct a more advanced machine to attempt to overcome him.
