Sisters of War
Watch Trailer
“Sisters of War” is a World War II narrative that vividly recounts the events on New Britain during the Japanese invasion and occupation. The story centers on the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, focusing particularly on Sister Berenice Twohill and her collaborative relationship with nurse Lorna Whyte. When the Australians withdrew from the mission in Vunapope near Rabaul, they left behind nurses and the injured who had sought shelter there. These individuals were captured and faced imminent execution until Bishop Leo Scharmach MSC deceived the Japanese by claiming he was Hitler’s envoy, thereby preventing their execution.
