Eoghan, a sound recordist, is making his way back to Ireland from Berlin after a 15-year absence. His return is prompted by a job opportunity that involves seeking out and capturing locations devoid of human-made noise. This mission leads him away from populated areas into isolated landscapes. Along the way, he engages in various encounters and dialogues that gradually shift his focus to a more elusive form of silence, intertwined with the echoes of the life he once left behind. Drawing inspiration from folklore and archival material, “Silence” unfolds with a subtle intensity, offering poetic visuals that delve into a contemplative exploration of sound and silence, history, memory, and the experience of exile.
