In the backstreets of Calgary, Alberta, around 1980, Ian McKay and his closest friend Shinky are two rebellious youths on a quest to discover their significant futures. Together, they confront cowboys, oil workers, hockey enforcers, film elitists, odd-job workers, and hairdressers. Throughout their journey, they manage to mature without compromising their ideals.
Supported by Ian’s imperfect yet caring family—his father Lloyd, mother Helen, and his wildly extroverted sister Belinda—Ian and Shinky seize new chances to challenge norms each week. They spread their unique brand of quirky rebellion for the 80s, pursuing love and striving to make a difference, one young, inebriated punk at a time.
