The destinies of two adolescents are irrevocably altered when a wildfire in California unleashes a fearsome supernatural entity, prompting it to assault a traffic jam on the highway below the blazing hills. Injured amidst the turmoil, the boy and girl find themselves mysteriously attracted to each other and to two other teens, who were adopted by a park ranger sixteen years ago following another enigmatic wildfire.
