The narrative follows a seemingly ordinary American family who become entangled in the affairs of a volatile Middle Eastern country. Bassam “Barry” Al Fayeed, the younger offspring of the nation’s authoritarian leader, returns to his birthplace after a self-imposed two-decade absence. Accompanied by his American spouse and children, he comes back for his nephew’s nuptials. Barry’s hesitant return sets the stage for a significant cultural confrontation as he is thrust back into the political and familial dynamics of his past.
