“The Real Ghostbusters” is an American animated TV series that emerged as a spin-off from the Ghostbusters franchise. Airing from 1986 to 1991, it was a collaborative production by Columbia Pictures Television, DiC Enterprises, and Coca-Cola Telecommunications. The addition of “The Real” to the title was a result of a legal disagreement with Filmation over its Ghost Busters properties. The show follows the continued escapades of paranormal investigators Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Egon Spengler, Dr. Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddemore, their secretary Janine Melnitz, and their ghostly mascot, Slimer. Additionally, the series inspired two ongoing comic book adaptations: a monthly edition by Now Comics in the United States and a weekly version by Marvel Comics in the United Kingdom, along with a successful toy line produced by Kenner.
