In the 1970s, Dan Stark and Frank Savage were celebrated detectives in Dallas, gaining national fame as heroes after rescuing the Governor’s son. Fast forward thirty years, and Dan Stark has become a washed-up detective, often found inebriated and reminiscing about his past triumphs. His current partner, Jack Bailey, is a diligent and rule-abiding detective with a sharp wit that sometimes works against him. This tendency has landed him in a stagnant role within the department, where he’s relegated to handling trivial theft cases that no one else wants. To make matters worse, he’s been saddled with the unenviable job of supervising Dan, the alcoholic outcast who struggles to maintain partnerships.
