Set in South Africa in 1994, the story follows the daughter of a couple from different racial backgrounds who is abducted. She manages to escape and later grows up to become a detective. As an adult, Reyka Gama confronts her past traumas while using her expertise to both raise her child and unravel mysteries that have baffled others.
