Daniel Brennan, recently freed from prison, represents the conflict of a man trapped between two realms. He finds it difficult to completely assimilate into the hearing society and is rejected by both his former friends and the broader deaf community due to his past terrible offense. In the midst of this solitude, Brennan’s sole significant connection is with his distant daughter, Carly, whom he hasn’t communicated with since his incarceration more than ten years ago.
