Michael Long, an undercover cop, is shot and abandoned by his attackers during an investigation. He is saved by Wilton Knight, a rich and terminally ill inventor, who facilitates a life-saving operation that gives Michael a new face and identity, transforming him into Michael Knight. Equipped with a unique, high-tech, and virtually indestructible car known as the Knight Industries Two Thousand (or KITT), Michael is tasked with capturing criminals who evade the law. The series follows Michael and KITT as they take on evil forces for the Foundation for Law and Government.
