“Keeping Up Appearances” is a British comedy series crafted by Roy Clarke for the BBC. The show revolves around the life of Hyacinth Bucket, an eccentric woman with aspirations of social climbing, who is fixated on impressing the middle class and presenting herself as wealthier than she actually is.
The series features Patricia Routledge in the lead role, earning her two BAFTA nominations for her portrayal of Hyacinth. Aired on BBC One from 1990 to 1995, the sitcom produced five seasons and 44 episodes, including four Christmas specials. It achieved significant popularity in the UK and also attracted a substantial following in the US, Canada, and Australia. The production concluded in 1995 when Routledge decided to pursue other opportunities. Since its debut, all five seasons, along with the Christmas specials, have been released on DVD. In 2004, the show was ranked 12th in a list of Britain’s Best Sitcoms and continues to be broadcast worldwide.
