In the year 198 of the Solar Era, Tokyo is plagued by a strange phenomenon known as spontaneous human combustion, which transforms people into fiery beings called “Infernals.” These Infernals represent the first generation of this occurrence, while subsequent generations can control fire while maintaining their human appearance. Shinra Kusakabe, a young man nicknamed Devil’s Footprints for his ability to ignite his feet at will, becomes a member of Special Fire Force Company 8. This team, made up of other flame manipulators, is dedicated to putting out Infernals wherever they appear. As a group responsible for creating Infernals emerges, Shinra starts to unravel the mystery behind a devastating fire that claimed his family’s lives twelve years prior.
