Dr. Jin
Dr. Jin

“Dr. Jin” is a South Korean historical TV drama from 2012, featuring Song Seung-hun as the lead character, Dr. Jin, a neurosurgeon from the 21st century who finds himself transported back to the Joseon Dynasty. The series also stars Park Min-young, Lee Beom-soo, Kim Jaejoong from JYJ, and Lee So-yeon. It was broadcast on MBC from May 26 to August 12, 2012, airing on Saturdays and Sundays at 9:50 PM for a total of 22 episodes.

The show is inspired by the Japanese manga “Jin” by Motoka Murakami and marks the third TV adaptation of the manga, following the Japanese drama “JIN” with Takao Osawa, which aired on TBS in 2009, along with its 2011 sequel. The Korean version infuses local cultural elements, shifting the setting from the original Edo period to the Joseon Dynasty during King Cheoljong’s reign. The character of Sakamoto Ryoma, a historical figure from Japan, is replaced by the Joseon political figure Lee Ha-eung. Initially, the series was tentatively titled “Time Slip Dr. Jin.”
