Terry Gannon Jr., once a standout softball athlete, faced unexpected challenges when life dealt her a few setbacks: an unplanned pregnancy, the loss of her college scholarship, and a disappointing marriage. Deciding to start anew, she and her son Danny move in with her distant father, Terry Sr., known as “The Cannon.” He’s a former athlete with strong opinions and a fondness for beer, who never succeeded as a single parent or in his baseball career. When Terry hesitantly agrees to coach Danny and a team of other aspiring but unskilled players, she finds herself confronting her past once more.
