In April 2010, the globally acclaimed graffiti artist Banksy made his presence felt in San Francisco. Unbeknownst to him, this act of graffiti would trigger a series of events, including the removal of one of his iconic rat artworks from a wall. Museums, unaware of its value, declined the opportunity to acquire a Banksy street piece for free. Meanwhile, a New York gallery owner, whose business revolves around extracting Banksy’s street art from various locations worldwide, was determined to obtain the rat artwork by any means necessary.
