After going months without receiving their salaries, the already frustrated crew of a Turkish cargo ship docks at an Egyptian port, only to discover that the Port Authority is seizing the ship. Ordered to remain anchored offshore, the reduced crew has their passports confiscated and is tasked with maintaining the ship until the owner’s debts are settled. Tensions quickly flare among the authoritarian Cypriot captain, his deeply religious second-in-command, a friendly cook, and three new arrivals on the ship—a pair of drug-using troublemakers and a nearly silent, imposing Kurd. As the months drag on, food and entertainment become scarce, alliances shift, and the men vent their pent-up frustrations on each other.
