In 1982, Wim Wenders invited 16 directors to share their thoughts on the future of film, culminating in the creation of the movie Room 666. Fast forward 40 years to Cannes, where director Lubna Playoust poses the same question to Wenders and a fresh wave of filmmakers, including James Gray, Rebecca Zlotowski, Claire Denis, Olivier Assayas, Nadav Lapid, Asghar Farhadi, Alice Rohrwacher, among others: “Is cinema a language on the brink of extinction, an art form nearing its demise?”
