In a television film set in the small town of Rockville, Georgia, during 1972, Major Kendall Laird, a Survival Assistance Officer, arrives with the remains of Lieutenant Dwyte Johnson, a decorated Vietnam War hero. Laird’s responsibility is to assist Johnson’s family in laying their son to rest. However, due to the fact that the deceased hero was black, his parents face rejection from the white racists who uphold the town’s “all-white” cemetery policy.
