Ravayate Makhdush
Watch Trailer
This avant-garde film, which has been prohibited in Iran, employs fictionalized, grainy home video footage to narrate the tale of a toxic relationship between a prosperous middle-aged Iranian businessman and his 18-year-old wife, Goli. The narrative unfolds through the lens of a camcorder, a birthday gift she received from him. Goli has been living with him as his captive and sexual servant since he abducted her at the age of nine during the Kurdish rebellion. Now expecting a child, Goli begins to assert herself, and upon discovering that she has learned English and taken up reading, he tightens his grip, further confining her within his home.
