During the “Made in Germany” tour, Swedish filmmaker Jonas Åkerlund captured two highly praised Rammstein concerts in March 2012, each performed for 17,000 fans at Paris’s Bercy Arena. The resulting film, featuring 16 songs from the band’s entire catalog, showcases Åkerlund’s innovative approach to conveying the intensity and excitement of Rammstein’s live shows. Åkerlund explains, “We filmed over two nights in Paris with 30 cameras, providing 60 different perspectives, and also recorded a dress rehearsal for close-up shots. This resulted in an enormous amount of footage. I edited the entire Rammstein performance with the same meticulous attention to detail as I would a 3-4 minute music video. Despite having a large team of editors, it took us more than a year to perfect the edit. Looking at it now, that’s the project’s strength. It truly brings the concert to life and captures the essence of Rammstein.”
