In 2nd Century Smyrna, a young enslaved girl named Anna is saved and taken in by a group of Christians, forming a bond with their elderly bishop, Polycarp. As Anna learns from Polycarp and her new family, she faces an internal conflict between her own beliefs and those of the Christians. The situation intensifies when the Roman proconsul orders all citizens to worship Caesar as a sign of loyalty to Rome.
