Historical records indicate that in 1586, King Bayinnaung led his forces through the Malamao Strait in Tak province to launch an invasion of Ayutthaya. After enduring prolonged battles, Ayutthaya eventually succumbed to the Burmese forces from Hongsawadi in 1569, marking the end of its independence. The downfall of the Ayutthaya Kingdom remains a mystery. Some speculate that the “Black Death,” which decimated the population, might be to blame. Others point to ravenous spirits or a plague brought by the Portuguese. However, the true cause eluded everyone until the deceased inexplicably transformed into a type of undead known as ‘The Black Death,’ who fearlessly attacked and devoured villagers, and even monks were powerless to banish them.
