Seventeen-year-old Jesse finds himself overshadowed by his older brother Victor, who never quite achieved his dream of becoming a surfing sensation. Despite being in his element amidst the stunning waves, Jesse is constantly reminded of his working-class destiny by the coal barges that dot the horizon. He possesses the innate talent to escape this life and make a name for himself on the global surfing stage, but he must first conquer his tendency to self-destruct.
