Jacek is a fan of heavy metal music and adores his dog. He turns the rural roads near his home into a personal racetrack, speeding along in his small car. When he and his girlfriend Dagmara hit the dance floor, others quickly clear the area. He relishes his role as a rebellious outsider in a conservative setting, maintaining his physique by working at a construction site near the Polish-German border, where the world’s largest statue of Jesus is being built. However, his life takes a drastic turn after a severe workplace accident leaves him severely disfigured. Closely followed by the Polish media, Jacek becomes the country’s first recipient of a face transplant. Although hailed as a national hero and martyr, he struggles to recognize his reflection. Meanwhile, the Jesus statue continues to rise. As events unfold rapidly around Jacek, the film maintains its focus on the broader narrative, sharpening its perspective.
