Sydney, a teenager facing difficulties, seems to be on a path of self-destruction. After incidents of shoplifting and alcohol poisoning, her single mother, at her wit’s end, decides to send her to the countryside to live with her father, Ben, and his pregnant wife, Emma. Sydney longs for her boyfriend and city life, and she struggles to connect with her father and stepmother. Gradually, she begins to adjust, forming a friendship with Jess, a local girl who lost her mother to cancer. Although Sydney makes a few missteps, the family begins to mend after the passing of her grandfather.
