Max is entering adolescence, and his classmate Ofelia has captured his attention. He hopes to spend the holiday season with her, ideally on New Year’s Eve. Meanwhile, his mother, Agnete, is unsure how to handle her son’s growing up. In her attempt to create the perfect Christmas for Max, she inadvertently causes chaos, as is her habit. With the help of his friends, Hassan and Ester, Max manages to bring order to the situation and organizes an impressive New Year’s Eve party. The event is well-attended, and Ester takes the opportunity to make a move on Max before Ofelia does.
