Set in the Old Port of Marseilles, “Marius” unfolds at La Marine Bar, run by César and his son, Marius. Marius harbors a deep desire to board one of the ships that pass by the bar and journey to distant lands. Fanny, a charming young seafood vendor, has secretly loved Marius since they were children, and although Marius has never admitted it, he has always felt the same way about her. One day, a sailor visits La Marine and offers Marius a position on an expedition ship.
