Still grieving the deaths of her husband and daughter, Ellie King, now a widow, travels to spend Christmas with her brother Aaron Davis and his kids. Despite her sorrow, Ellie tries to embrace the holiday spirit, forming new friendships with Mrs. Thompson, a local shop owner, and Deputy Strode, a charming admirer. As she becomes comfortable with her brother’s family, Ellie also encounters Erik, a young man whom Aaron has welcomed into his home after being abandoned by his criminal father. When Aaron leaves town to buy nearby land for farming, Ellie agrees to look after his children. However, the holiday celebrations are jeopardized when Aaron mysteriously disappears.
