Feng Xue, an ambitious artist, feels his potential is being squandered while working on Bai Ze’s comic project, The Legend of Demon Sea. To express his discontent, he starts a new version of the project, weaving the tales of an alchemy master with allegories of his own daily struggles. In his comics, Feng retaliates against any perceived slights or neglect at the studio by depicting his colleagues and boss in unflattering ways. However, when Bai Ze stumbles upon a caricature of himself enduring Feng’s artistic wrath, he isn’t upset. Instead, he commends Feng Xue for his creativity and presents the revised draft to his superior. This experience also teaches Bai Ze about workplace frustration, forcing him to decide between his convictions and the demands of his job.
