
In the children’s oncology ward on the fourth floor of a large hospital, three teenagers find ways to enjoy themselves. Nick, 14, and Iwan, 15, have both lost a leg due to bone cancer, while their friend Olivier, 16, may soon face a similar fate. The fourth member of their group, Pepijn, 15, is often confined to his room due to his severe illness. Despite their challenges, the boys maintain their mental well-being through friendship and a strong will to live. Like typical teenagers, they are also interested in attractive girls. They humorously refer to themselves as “sickos” and make light of their conditions. Although they can’t walk, they perform daring stunts in their wheelchairs and organize joyrides through the hospital corridors. Their dynamic shifts with the arrival of Gina, 16. Initially uninterested in their advances, Gina soon realizes that having friends will make her hospital stay much more bearable. “Sickos” is a comedic drama that explores the themes of adolescence and chemotherapy.
