
“JACO” chronicles the life of Jaco Pastorius, an extraordinary and self-taught musician who revolutionized modern music by transforming the sound and role of the electric bass guitar. The film reveals the true story of Jaco’s life, music, and tragic demise through never-before-seen 8mm footage, photographs, and audio recordings. Featuring appearances by Joni Mitchell, Sting, Flea, Herbie Hancock, Geddy Lee, Bootsy Collins, Santana, Wayne Shorter, and others, “JACO” evokes nostalgia for an era when musicians dominated the music industry. The documentary is produced by Metallica’s Robert Trujillo in collaboration with Passion Pictures (known for “Searching for Sugar Man”) and is directed by Paul Marchand and Stephen Kijak.
