In the early 1970s, Brazil is under the peak of its military dictatorship. The Paiva family, consisting of Rubens, Eunice, and their five children, resides in a beachfront home in Rio de Janeiro, welcoming friends with open arms. However, their lives take a dramatic turn when Rubens is summoned for interrogation and fails to come back.
